Lip Filler Myths — What's Actually True
No, filler doesn't stretch your lip permanently. No, you don't have to keep injecting once you start. No, 1 mL will not give you "trout pout" if the injector knows what they're doing. The look you see on Instagram is a choice — not the default result.
Does lip filler stretch my lips permanently?
No. Modern HA fillers hold their volume while they're present and are naturally metabolised over 6–12 months. Your lips return to baseline. Any "stretching" seen on very high-dose long-term clients is from years of aggressive dosing — not a single 0.5–1.0 mL treatment.
Once I start filler, do I have to keep going forever?
No. HA filler is fully reversible with hyaluronidase, and if you simply stop, it dissolves on its own within 6–12 months. Your lips look exactly the way they did before you started.
Will 1 mL of lip filler make me look overdone?
In experienced hands, 1 mL is a soft, natural refresh — hydration and gentle definition. "Overdone" is almost always the result of stacking multiple mL at short intervals, or filler pushed into the wrong plane. Ask your injector for photos of their most natural work.
Is lip filler safe when I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
We do not perform cosmetic injections during pregnancy or breastfeeding — not because it's proven unsafe, but because there are no controlled studies and we won't be the ones to run one. Wait until you've weaned.
